HISTORY
The Russia-Afghanistan project aims at recreating the
history of the Afghan-Soviet war through the people that have lived it
and through the memories, anecdotes and personal stories they have to
tell. Sometimes, these stories are from the battlefield but often they
are not directly related to the conflict or its military, political or
economic underpinnings. There are many books and documentaries that tell
us about the political background of the war and the battles that were
fought during nine years. Much less is known about the people, whether
Soviet soldiers, ordinary Afghans, soldiers of the army of the Afghan
republic or the Mujahideen. What about their feelings and personal
stories? What about the interaction between the different actors
involved? Chronoscoop tries to get to the bottom of both the tragic and
joyful side of the human perspective on the Soviet Union’s last war.
Below, quotes, personal accounts, stories and anecdotes will be used to tell the story of the Afghan-Soviet war. [Under construction] |
